Fast Inversion Recovery Magnetic Resonance Angiography (FIR-MRA) of the Intracranial Arteries

چکیده
Introduction –3D time-of-flight (TOF) [1] provides excellent vessel-to-background contrast in intracranial MRA, but is subject to inplane saturation and incomplete venous suppression. Spin-labeling [2-3] may be used to perform MRA [4-5], but typically requires long inversion intervals with inherently long acquisition times. We have developed a 3D fast inversion recovery MRA (FIR-MRA) that uses spin-labeling technique with reasonably short acquisition time. Initial results demonstrate superior vessel conspicuity, background suppression and venous suppression with 3D FIR-MRA compared to 3D TOF [6]. The purpose of this work is to perform a detailed comparison of FIR-MRA to TOF, and to demonstrate the clinical utility of FIR-MRA.

Evaluation of Intracranial Vasculatures in Healthy Subjects with Arterial-Spin-Labeling-Based 4D-MR Angiography at 3T
Contrast inherent inflow-enhanced multi-phase angiography combining multiple-phase flow-alternating inversion-recovery (CINEMA-FAIR) is an arterial-spin-labeling-based four-dimensional magnetic resonance angiography (4D-MRA) technique. Two neuroradiologists independently evaluated the depiction of the intracranial vasculatures in healthy subjects with 3T 4D-MRA using CINEMA-FAIR. Our results in...

PURPOSE To evaluate the accuracy of unenhanced magnetic resonance angiography (U-MRA) using balanced steady-state free precession (SSFP) sequences with inversion recovery (IR) pulses for the evaluation of renal artery stenosis. MATERIALS AND METHODS U-MRA was performed in 24 patients with suspected main renal artery stenosis. Two radiologists evaluated the quality of the imaging studies and t...
متن کاملEvaluation of takayasu arteritis with delayed contrast-enhanced MR imaging by a free-breathing 3D IR turbo FLASH
The primary aim of our case-control study was to observe delayed contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) in patients with Takayasu arteritis (TA) in comparison with magnetic resonance angiography (MRA). Twenty-seven patients including 15 with active TA and 12 with stable TA who underwent both aortic MRA and DCE-MRI were included. A total of 27 sex- and age-matched healthy volunte...
متن کاملThe Stroke Outcomes and Neuroimaging of Intracranial Atherosclerosis (SONIA) trial.
BACKGROUND Transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD) and magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) can identify intracranial atherosclerosis but have not been rigorously validated against the gold standard, catheter angiography. The WASID trial (Warfarin Aspirin Symptomatic Intracranial Disease) required performance of angiography to verify the presence of intracranial stenosis, allowing for prospective...
متن کاملA free-breathing non-contrast-enhanced pulmonary magnetic resonance angiography at 3 Tesla.
BACKGROUND The breathhold contrast-enhanced three-dimensional magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) using T1-weighted gradient-echo imaging sequence is the standard technique for MRA of the thorax. However, this technique is not desirable for certain patients with respiratory insufficiency, serious renal impairment, or allergy to contrast agents. The objective of this study was to optimize and e...
